Osteoporosis Education:
Osteoporosis is a condition that causes bones to become weak and brittle, leading to fractures. A combination of genetic, dietary, hormonal, age-related and lifestyle factors all contribute to this condition which usually progresses painlessly until a fracture occurs, usually in the hip, spine, or wrist.
Osteoporosis affects 28 million Americans, more than 80 percent women.
Jasper County Health Department has a grant that allows us to provide free osteoporosis education and free bone density screenings to the women of Jasper County. To schedule an educational presentation or for more information, call Jolyn Bigard R.N., Health Educator at 783-4436 or e-mail at jbigard@jasperhealth.org
